The wheat market ended the week with CBT soft red wheat futures up 5 to 7 3/4 cents, KC HRW futures 4 to 6 cents higher, and MPLS spring wheat 2 to 4 cents higher. Spec funds cut 16,545 contracts from their net short position in CBT wheat futures. The next week brings wet conditions in the Southern Plains and drier weather in the Northern Plains. Thursday’s Export Sales report showed strong sales, with 12.152 MMT sold for the full marketing year. Sep 25 CBOT Wheat closed at $5.18, Dec 25 CBOT Wheat closed at $5.34 1/4, Sep 25 KCBT Wheat closed at $4.92 3/4, Dec 25 KCBT Wheat closed at $5.19 3/4, Sep 25 MGEX Wheat closed at $5.59 1/4, and Dec 25 MGEX Wheat closed at $5.80.
