An entity tied to US President Donald Trump’s family now holds about $5 billion worth of World Liberty Financial’s governance token (WLFI) after unlocking 24.6 billion WLFI tokens on Monday. The Trump family endorsed the crypto company, which includes his memecoin and a Bitcoin mining company, amid criticism from lawmakers.
Shares of the Trump family’s crypto mining company, American Bitcoin, are set to go public after Tuesday in a merger with Gryphon Digital. The combined company, trading under ABTC, includes investments from Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss. Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump owned 20% of the mining company before the merger.
