Deutsche Bank is selling its retail banking operations in India, seeking bids from domestic and international institutions. The retail division operates in 17 branches. Non-binding bids are due by August 29, with details undisclosed. The bank previously tried to sell in 2017. Revenue for 2025 reported at $278.3m.
Despite $1bn in net revenue from Indian operations in 2024, Deutsche Bank is looking to exit the retail sector due to competition and regulatory challenges. Other banks, like Citibank and Standard Chartered, have also divested in recent years. Foreign banks struggle to compete with local banks in India’s market.
