Westpac Banking Corp plans to hire 350 bankers in the next two years to boost business banking market share. The bank has already hired 135 business bankers this year. Westpac currently holds a 16.1% market share, trailing behind National Australia Bank and Commonwealth Bank. NAB faces competition as it undergoes major changes. Westpac’s business and wealth division reported a net profit of A$1.1 billion in the first half of the year. Fowler, Westpac’s CEO of business banking and wealth, aims to regain ground lost in business banking. Fowler, who joined Westpac in May, previously worked at CBA.
