The base engine is a V6 with 305 horsepower, with an optional 5.7-liter V8 producing 395 horsepower. The truck has a maximum payload capacity of 2,300 pounds and can tow up to 12,750 pounds. The base V6 engine returns 22 mpg in mixed city/highway driving, and the 5.7-liter V8 achieves 20 mpg. The Ram 1500’s best payload is achieved with the 3.6-liter V6, and the 5.7-liter V8 enables a maximum towing figure of 12,750 pounds.

The truck is available in several trims including the Tradesman, HFE, Big Horn, Laramie, Rebel, Limited Longhorn, Limited, and TRX starting at $38,750 and going up to $85,700. The Ram 1500 is only available in Quad Cab or Crew Cab options, and the Crew Cab brings almost 10 inches more rear legroom than the Quad Cab. The base engine is a V6 developing a useful 305 horsepower, with the optional 5.7-liter V8 making 395 horsepower.

Every new Ram 1500 gains a Tailgate Ajar warning light, and the Warlock treatment comes back onto the Tradesman options list with dedicated off-road features. The TRX Final Edition marks the end of production for its supercharged V8 while offering new exterior colors. And the diesel engine is no longer available. Additionally, the truck has various safety features, including Trailer Reverse Steering Control and ParkSense Active Park Assist. The base V6 engine returns 22 mpg in mixed city/highway driving, 4-wheel drive has 21 mpg combined. The 5.7-liter V8 and rear-wheel drive setup achieves 20 mpg, or 19 mpg with 4-wheel drive. The monstrously powerful supercharged 6.2-liter V8 in the TRX (with 4-wheel drive as standard) manages a paltry 12 mpg. Overall, the Ram 1500 is a competitive choice in the full-size pickup class, offering power, comfortable seats, and a smooth driving experience.
