Famous Footwear’s partnership with Jordan Brand paid off in Q2, making Jordan a top 10 brand at the shoe chain during back-to-school. Men’s shoes performed best, kids’ were in-line, but women’s sales lagged. Top growth brands included Jordan, Adidas, Birkenstock, New Balance, Asics, Reef, and Brooks.

CEO Jay Schmidt stated that Jordan and other trending brands drove back-to-school comp sales up 1% in August. Net earnings for Q2 were $6.71 million, down from $29.96 million the previous year. Net sales were $658.52 million, a 3.6% decrease from the same period last year.

Famous Footwear saw a 4.9% decrease in net sales, with comparable sales down 3.4% in Q2. Caleres’ brand portfolio division reported a 3.5% decline in net sales. Caleres plans to suspend annual guidance due to economic uncertainty moving forward.
