Michael Saylor, co-founder and executive chairman of Strategy, has seen his net worth increase by $1 billion this year, placing him 491st on the Bloomberg Billionaire Index with a net worth of $7.37 billion, up 15.80% since Jan. 1. Strategy’s stock price closed at $335.87 on Friday.
Approximately $650 million of Saylor’s fortune is in cash, while $6.72 billion is in Strategy equity. Saylor joins other crypto billionaires on the list, such as Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong and Binance founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao.
Strategy is well-known for its aggressive Bitcoin accumulation strategy, currently holding around 659,739 BTC, valued at $72.9 billion, about 3.42% of Bitcoin’s circulating supply, according to StrategyTracker.
Despite Strategy’s significant Bitcoin holdings, the company claims their buying does not influence the market. Strategy’s stock price is down 12.4% over the past 30 days, even after closing 2.53% higher on Friday.
Strategy’s exclusion from the S&P 500 in August disappointed some market participants. Despite meeting all requirements and being in the Nasdaq 100, the company may still be denied inclusion after a holistic evaluation by the committee.
