A faith-based investment firm has teamed up with S&P Dow Jones Indices to launch a new index and exchange traded fund (ETF) tailored for Christian investors. The S&P 500 Christian Values Screened Index excludes companies involved in activities like abortion, gambling, and tobacco.
Bountiful Financial and S&P Dow Jones introduced the S&P 500 Christian Values Screened Index, the first in a series of indices for evangelical Christian investors. The index will exclude companies engaged in activities contrary to Christian values, such as abortion and adult entertainment.
The new Christian values index fund will exclude companies involved in activities like abortion, stem cell research, and adult entertainment. Sector adjustments will be made to align the index with the S&P 500 to reduce tracking error.
Bountiful Financial and S&P Dow Jones plan to launch ETFs and other financial products based on the evangelical Christian values index later this year. The index was developed through a year-long collaboration aimed at providing tools that support both financial and spiritual goals for Christian investors.
Cameron Drinkwater, chief product officer at S&P Dow Jones, expressed pleasure in collaborating with Bountiful Financial to expand faith-based indices. The S&P 500 Christian Values Screened Index is part of S&P DJI’s commitment to providing tools for investors to align their religious beliefs with investment strategies.
