NextDecade has secured full funding for Train 4 at the Rio Grande LNG project, marking a significant milestone with a positive final investment decision. The project near Brownsville, Texas, US, will have an LNG production capacity of around 6mtpa, bringing the total capacity under construction at Rio Grande LNG to approximately 24mtpa. Train 4 is backed by 20-year LNG sale and purchase agreements with major industry players and is expected to be completed by the latter half of 2030. Expenses for Train 4 and associated infrastructure are estimated at $6.7bn. NextDecade has also signed a turnkey EPC contract for Train 5 with Bechtel, with a positive FID expected by the end of 2025.
