U..S. jobless claims inch drop to lowest level since October

Initial jobless claims in the US fell slightly by 1,000 to 202,000 in the week ending January 6, the lowest level since mid-October. Economists had anticipated an increase to 210,000, indicating a better than expected performance in the labor market.
