WeRide, a global leader in autonomous driving technology, has expanded into Belgium by launching its Robobus in Leuven in partnership with De Lijn, the City of Leuven, and Espaces-Mobilités. The Robobus will conduct mapping in downtown Leuven and a pilot autonomous shuttle service is expected to start in mid-November, making it Belgium’s first commercial deployment of autonomous vehicles in mixed traffic. The goal is to achieve fully driverless operations to improve urban mobility and public transport in Leuven. WeRide aims to scale autonomous driving services across Europe with strong support from local partners.
