Bega Group has found a buyer for its peanut processing assets but will still close Peanut Company of Australia. The company reached an agreement to sell the land, buildings, and equipment at the two sites to Crumpton Group, potentially saving 30 of the 150 at-risk jobs. The sale is expected to be completed in December, with a transition to the new owner in June next year. Bega has been trimming assets, including closing a cheese facility in Victoria and a milk manufacturing plant in Canberra. The company’s annual results showed a rise in EBITDA but a slip into a loss due to recent asset sales restructuring.
