JPMorgan Chase appoints Francisco Abularach and Michael Johnson as global co-heads of infrastructure investment banking. The move reflects increased dealmaking in the sector, with infrastructure private equity coverage being a key growth area for the bank. Abularach joined from Citigroup, Johnson has been with the bank for seven years.

The new co-heads will report to Avery Whidden, global head of infrastructure. JPMorgan advised on several significant deals this year, including an $8.5 billion deal for EQT Infrastructure and Zayo, and an equity recapitalization for Origis Energy of over $1 billion. Investment banking revenue is expected to grow in the third quarter.

JPMorgan has seen a surge in hiring, adding over a hundred managing directors this year. Stuart McIntyre, formerly of Citi, joins as a managing director in North America infrastructure investment banking. M&A activity is expected to continue driving investment banking, with strong performance in IPOs and equity capital markets.

Overall, JPMorgan is positioned for growth in the infrastructure sector, with a focus on strategic partnerships and client support. The bank’s recent leadership appointments and hiring reflect its commitment to strengthening its position in the market.
