Agrichemicals firm Corteva is considering a split, separating its seed and pesticide businesses into two separate companies. This move could protect its seeds from potential liabilities linked to its pesticide products. Corteva, spun off from DowDuPont in 2019, could reveal plans soon. Investors see a split as offering better choices in the market.

The possible split reflects a trend of corporate separations in 2025, with companies like Honeywell and Kraft Heinz responding to investor demands for restructuring. Last year, DuPont had also planned a split into three units but later changed course. The agrichemicals industry faces challenges from shifting tariff policies impacting demand and farmers’ spending.

Corteva, a major crop-protection product maker in the U.S., competes with Syngenta, BASF, and Bayer. It recently raised profit and sales forecasts for the year after a strong first half performance. The company was formed in 2019 as part of the DowDuPont split, which separated the chemical and agribusiness divisions.
