QatarEnergy partners with Samsung C&T to construct a 2,000MW solar power plant in Dukhan, Qatar, boosting the country’s renewable energy capacity. The plant, set for completion by mid-2029, will double Qatar’s solar power output and align with its sustainability goals.

The agreement was signed by Qatar’s energy minister and Samsung C&T’s CEO at a ceremony in Doha, attended by KAHRAMAA’s president. The plant’s first phase aims to deliver 1GW to the grid by 2028, featuring advanced technology for improved efficiency and environmental impact.

QatarEnergy’s Sustainability Strategy targets over 4,000MW of renewable energy by 2030, with the Dukhan plant playing a significant role in reducing carbon emissions and meeting 30% of Qatar’s peak electricity demand. Collaboration with Samsung C&T is crucial in achieving these environmental and energy goals.
