HII hosted Gen. Eric Smith, the 39th commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps, at their Ingalls Shipbuilding division. Smith met with Ingalls leadership, toured the shipyard, and expressed appreciation for the workforce. Ingalls currently has two LHAs and three Flight II LPDs under construction, as well as contracts for additional ships. HII is a global defense provider with a focus on delivering powerful ships and solutions for national security. The workforce at HII is 44,000 strong, dedicated to advancing U.S. national security. This visit marked Smith’s third tour of Ingalls Shipbuilding as the commandant.
