OpenAI’s latest report reveals that 10% of the world’s adult population has adopted its consumer chatbot since its launch in Nov. 2022. Usage has become more representative of the U.S. population, with non-work-related messages accounting for 70% of all usage. The top three conversation topics are Practical Guidance, Writing, and Seeking Information. Work-related inquiries only make up 30% of ChatGPT’s usage, with technical jobs being the most common users of similar models. OpenAI, valued at $300 billion, is transitioning to a for-profit company to continue developing all-purpose AI models.
