Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong plans to launch a crypto super app offering credit card services, payments, and Bitcoin rewards, potentially rivaling traditional banks. The exchange aims to become a full-service crypto “super app,” eliminating the need for traditional banks, with recent acquisitions positioning them for success.
Armstrong criticized high transaction fees charged by banks, stating that data flowing over the internet shouldn’t come with a fee. Coinbase plans to become people’s primary financial account, challenging traditional banking systems with a 4% Bitcoin rewards credit card.
Improved crypto regulations in the US have created a favorable environment for Coinbase’s new pursuits. Since Donald Trump’s presidency, the crypto sector has seen better results, with Coinbase benefiting from a $112 billion Bitcoin and Ethereum reserve, the highest in the last four years.
