Robo.ai Inc. will establish a commercial vehicle joint venture with Pakistan’s JW Group to expand into green mobility and smart city development. The venture, named RoBUS, will be based in the UAE, with River Zhang appointed as Chief Industrial Officer. Zhang brings expertise from NIO, Ford, and Volvo, overseeing the launch of nearly 20 vehicle models.

RoBUS aims to develop customized products for the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia, aligning with local regulations and customer needs. Robo.ai will provide capital market support, brand building expertise, and facilitate market expansion in the Middle East and globally. JW Group will offer manufacturing capacity through its overseas facilities and access to over 400 distributors.

The creation of RoBUS supports UAE’s national vision and goal for a green and smart commercial vehicle platform. Javed Afridi, CEO of JW Group, anticipates the venture will accelerate the adoption of green and smart commercial vehicles globally. AIIO shares traded 12.20% higher premarket at $1.840 on Monday.
