Nvidia (NVDA) to Invest in OpenAI, Boosting Tech Sector Confidence

NVIDIA (NVDA) announced it will invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI as part of a broad strategic partnership aimed at scaling AI infrastructure. The deal centers on deploying up to 10 gigawatts of NVIDIA systems, with the first gigawatt expected to come online in the second half of 2026 using the company’s Vera Rubin platform.

The agreement makes NVIDIA a preferred compute and networking partner for OpenAI, aligning hardware and software roadmaps to accelerate development of frontier AI models. The scale of the commitment highlights both OpenAI’s need for compute and NVIDIA’s growing influence at the core of the AI ecosystem.

NVIDIA shares closed at $183.61, up $7.01 (+3.97%) after the announcement.
