Pacific Green has secured a planning permit for its second Australian grid-scale battery energy park in Portland, Victoria, providing up to 1GW of firming capacity over the next 36 months. The park will be Australia’s largest, avoiding 66,900 tonnes of CO2 annually. The project underwent rigorous assessments and engaged with local communities and stakeholders, including First Peoples representatives. With the success of a previous project in South Australia, Pacific Green aims to develop over 7 GWh of battery energy parks. The park will be strategically located near key industrial facilities, providing energy security and supporting renewable energy goals in Victoria.
