Corn prices dropped 3 to 3 ½ cents on Monday, with December futures down 6 cents from last week. Open interest rose by 9,133 contracts. The national average Cash Corn price was $3.80 1/2. CFTC data showed a decrease in spec fund net short positions and an increase in commercials’ net short positions.

USDA’s Export Sales report revealed total corn commitments at 23.833 MMT, up 68% from last year. Brazil’s first corn crop is 25% planted in the Center-South region. Corn futures closed at $4.24 for Dec 25, $3.80 1/2 for Nearby Cash, $4.41 1/4 for Mar 26, and $4.51 for May 26.
