Honda is stopping production of its Acura ZDX electric crossovers made by GM, citing market conditions and strategic goals. GM has been producing the ZDX for Honda’s Acura brand under a partnership. U.S. automakers are delaying electric vehicle plans due to weak demand and the removal of key industry support.

The Acura ZDX was a light seller, with 10,335 units sold in the first half of the year, accounting for 15% of Acura’s U.S. sales. U.S. electric car sales have surged ahead of a tax-credit deadline, reaching 11.2% of total vehicle sales in August. The ZDX electric model was assembled at GM’s Spring Hill assembly plant in Tennessee.
