U.K. stocks are up after a flat start, despite U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of new tariffs on pharmaceuticals and trucks. Additional levies proposed on furniture are also in the works. Investors are awaiting the crucial U.S. PCE data later today. The benchmark FTSE 100 is up 0.51% at 9,261.35. Intercontinental Hotels Group, Hikma Pharmaceuticals, and Natwest Group are among the top gainers. On the downside, Metlen Energy & Metals, Rio Tinto, Spirax Group, and Endeavour Mining are declining. Diageo, Fresnillo, Informa, DCC, Bunzl, The Sage Group, and Halma are also notably lower.
