The CDC was directed to remove several webpages related to sexual and gender identity, health equity, and more by the HHS. This move could limit access to critical health information, especially for marginalized groups. The Trump administration has previously targeted similar resources on federal websites.

The removal of these resources has raised concerns among health equity advocates and LGBTQ+ organizations. A spokesperson for the LBGT PA Caucus stated that stripping away resources on gender identity erodes trust, creates confusion, and places patients at greater risk. Clinicians rely on inclusive guidance to deliver effective care.

The Trump administration previously ordered the removal of thousands of pages across federal agency websites, including the CDC and FDA, regarding gender identity. A federal judge ruled in July that the government unlawfully removed health resources and required agencies to review and restore affected pages. Most agencies have restored pages, with only 11 CDC pages still under review.

Following the ruling, the CDC took down more pages on the same day, including a webpage on health equity for people with disabilities. The exact number of pages taken down this month and the reason for their removal remain unclear. Some pages are still online, such as the one monitoring hospitalizations associated with respiratory syncytial virus.
