Vodafone, Microsoft Partner In Generative AI, Digital Services, Cloud

Vodafone Group Plc has partnered with Microsoft Corp. to offer generative AI, digital, and cloud services to over 300 million customers in Europe and Africa. The collaboration will involve a $1.5 billion investment from Vodafone over the next 10 years and a focus on IoT connectivity platforms and new digital and financial services.

The 10-year partnership will utilize Microsoft’s generative AI and involve the joint development of cloud strategies, new services, and the integration of Vodafone’s fixed and mobile connectivity services. Microsoft plans to invest in Vodafone’s managed IoT connectivity platform, which is expected to become a separate standalone business in 2024.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing the potential of the new AI technology to unlock opportunities for customers and industries across the world, with a focus on enhancing customer experience and accelerating the transition to the cloud for millions of businesses and individuals across Africa and Europe.

In a separate partnership announcement, Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp. revealed its collaboration with Microsoft to launch an AI-powered tool called Innovation Assistant, built on Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service.
