Tech investment firms SoftBank and Ark Invest are in talks to invest in Tether, the issuer of the largest stablecoin USDT. Tether is looking to raise up to $20 billion, valuing the firm at $500 billion, making it one of the most valuable private companies. The stablecoin sector has grown 40% year-to-date to $287 billion, with analysts predicting it could reach $4 trillion by 2030. Tether’s USDT has a market capitalization of $173 billion, while Circle’s USDC is over $70 billion. Tether is entering the US market with a new dollar token USAT to comply with federal crypto laws.
