Infinera collaborates with Orange to upgrade the AMITIE subsea cable with INFN’s ICE6 coherent solution. The cable connects US, France and the UK. Meta Platforms, Microsoft, Aqua Comms and Vodafone also operate the 6,783-km cable. Orange will use the solution to offer 400 Gigabit Ethernet services from the US to France, improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon footprint. The ICE6 optical engine offers 800G single-wavelength capabilities over 1000+ kilometers in commercial networks.

The collaboration with Orange marks significant global deal wins for Infinera, securing partnerships with tier-1 service providers in Europe, subsea consortiums, and major hyperscalers across the US. Infinera specializes in optical transmission equipment and is ranked #3 (Hold) by Zacks along with Microsoft, and Meta Platforms holds a #2 (Buy) rank. Infinera’s shares have plunged 32.1% in the past year, while Microsoft and Meta Platforms have witnessed returns of 62.4% and 173.4%, respectively. BlackLine is also a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) stock in the broader technology sector, with its shares losing 18.5% in the past year.

The ICE6 coherent solution integrates the technology of two programmable wavelengths at 800 Gb/s, offering a combined speed of 1.6 Tb/s. It also incorporates 7-nm Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor process node, digital signal processor, and PIC solution, allowing network operators to achieve 800G single-wavelength capabilities over 1000+ kilometers in commercial networks. This advancement represents a move towards increasing data transmission over substantial distances with the lowest cost and power per unit.
