Honda Motor reported a decrease in August 2025 automobile production in Japan to 44,586 units, an 88.4% YoY drop, the first decline in three months. Total production in Japan from January to August 2025 was 438,531 units, representing 98.5% of the previous year.

Globally, Honda’s production for August 2025 was 267,005 units, 87% of August 2024, continuing a 13-month YoY decrease streak. North America produced 136,559 units, with the US contributing 88,056, down 93.9% YoY. Asia saw 76,887 units, a significant drop of 74.3% YoY.

Exports from Japan showed positive growth in August 2025, with a 126.9% increase to 7,307 units compared to August 2024. North America received 2,037 units, up by 270.2% YoY, while Asia had a slight decrease to 277 units, and Europe remained stable at 2,551 units. Other regions experienced a 115.5% YoY increase in exports.

Despite the rise in exports, the domestic market in Japan saw a decline, with new vehicle sales dropping to 301,221 units in August 2025, an 8% decrease from the previous year.
