Cotton prices rose 8 to 11 points on Monday, with futures steady to 12 points higher. The US dollar index fell $0.370 to $97.845, and crude oil futures were up by 22 cents. Commitment of Traders data showed managed money increasing their bearish bet by 2,943 contracts, with net shorts at 62,004 contracts.

Export Sales data from Thursday revealed 4.059 million RB of cotton sold by 9/18, a decrease of 18% from last year. Thursday’s online auction saw 1,561 sales at an average price of 59.3 cents/lb. ICE cotton stocks remained steady at 15,474 bales, with USDA’s AWP at 54.38 cents/lb last week.
