JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon praised former President Donald Trump’s record and urged Democrats to be “more respectful” of Trump’s supporters, warning that negative talk about “MAGA” could hurt Joe Biden’s reelection campaign. Dimon argued that linking Trump’s supporters to the former president’s personality is incorrect and could alienate voters. He also credited Trump for his policy record and emphasized the need for respect in politics. The White House did not immediately respond to Dimon’s remarks.

Biden has warned that Trump and “MAGA Republicans” pose a threat to American democracy, but has tried to distinguish between Trump’s most hardline supporters and “mainstream Republicans.” Dimon’s remarks came after Trump’s strong showing in the Iowa caucuses, and he also praised former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, a presidential candidate. Dimon also credited Trump for being “kind of right” on NATO, immigration, growing the economy, trade tax reform, and China. He emphasized the need to be prepared for both potential outcomes and called for respect in politics.
