Trump Holds Commanding 16-Point Lead In New Hampshire, Poll Reveals — But Surprising Detail Hints At Potential Challenger

From Nasdaq:

Former president Donald Trump emerges as the front runner for the New Hampshire Republican primaries, with 50% of respondents expressing support for him. A poll of 500 likely voters conducted in New Hampshire says that former SC governor Nikki Haley is his closest competition, with 34% backing her. Florida Governor DeSantis lags at 5% support.

Trump has gained overwhelming support across genders, regions of the state, education levels and age groups. Although Haley led Trump among undeclared voters by 44% to 38%, Republican-identifying voters are supporting Trump by a margin of 61% to 51% for Haley. Out of 500 survey participants, eight admitted to casting votes, with three in favor of Haley and two in favor of Trump.

Nearly 87% of participants surveyed for the poll said that they are not likely to change their choice before the Republican primary. 54% of participants who chose Haley said it was a vote for her, whereas 37% said it was a vote against Trump. Nonetheless, Trump remains a strong contender in New Hampshire.

Experts predict that the vote of undeclared voters is crucial in the GOP primary, especially in the scenario where President Joe Biden does not feature on the state’s Democratic primary ballot. Trump’s recent victories, endorsements, and support among younger GOP voters could improve his chances in the New Hampshire Republican primaries. Still, there is time for other candidates to close the gap with undecided voters and even pull Trump below 50% in the polls.
