Mortgage rates rose slightly this week but are still below the 52-week average, with the 30-year FRM at 6.34% and the 15-year FRM at 5.55%. Last year, the 30-year FRM averaged 6.12% and the 15-year FRM averaged 5.25%. Freddie Mac’s Chief Economist, Sam Khater, noted that despite the increase, rates are lower than a year ago, boosting confidence among homebuyers. Pending home sales have also seen an uptick, indicating a positive trend in the housing market.
