Plug Power has delivered the first 10 MW electrolyzer module to a project in Portugal, with a total capacity of 100 MW. Despite the progress, Plug stock remains speculative. Shares are up 16.7% as markets trend lower due to the U.S. government shutdown.

The project at Galp’s Sines Refinery will have a total capacity of 100 MW, replacing 20% of the grey hydrogen currently used. Investors are enthusiastic as Plug recognizes Europe as a strategic market, with multi-gigawatt electrolyzer deployments in Spain and the UK.

Investors should carefully consider the speculative nature of Plug stock despite progress in improving financials. The Motley Fool Stock Advisor team did not include Plug Power in their list of top 10 stocks for investors to buy now. The hydrogen stock is highly speculative and suitable only for those with a high-risk tolerance.
