The stock market reached record levels on Wednesday, with the S&P 500 rallying 0.3% to its 29th record close of 2025. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.1%, setting a new closing high, while the Nasdaq Composite climbed 0.4% to near its September 22 closing high. Some attributed the initial weakness to the government shutdown, but Bespoke Investment Group co-founder Paul Hickey was skeptical.
