The Canadian market reached a new record high fueled by gains in energy, industrials, and technology sectors. The S&P/TSX Composite Index hit 30,476.05 before settling at 30,421.51, up 0.87%.

Shopify Inc. saw a nearly 5% increase in shares after Rothschild Redburn raised the stock’s target price. Constellation Software is up almost 3%, along with other companies like Descartes Systems Group, Bitfarms, and Kinaxis.

Energy stocks like Baytex Energy and Vermilion Energy are up 2-2.5%, while industrials shares like Canadian Pacific Kansas City and Ats Corp are also on the rise.

The S&P Global Canada Composite PMI for September 2025 was 46.3, indicating a contraction in private sector activity for the tenth consecutive month. Manufacturing PMI dropped to 47.7% and Services PMI fell to 46.3%.
