The Japanese stock market reached a record high, gaining over 7.5 percent in two sessions. The Nikkei 225 closed just below 47,950 points. The global market forecast is mixed to lower, with technology shares providing support. Stocks surged after Sanae Takaichi was elected as the new leader of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party. The Nikkei rose 4.75 percent to 47,944.76. Wall Street closed mixed with the Dow down 0.14 percent, NASDAQ up 0.71 percent, and S&P 500 up 0.36 percent. Oil prices rose on lower-than-expected OPEC output. Japan will release August household spending numbers and leading and coincident indexes.
