Market volatility has decreased since the April correction, but remains unpredictable. It may be a good time to seek stocks with low implied volatility percentile. Many stocks are showing a low implied volatility rank, such as Strategy Inc. (MSTR) with an IV of 59.91%, compared to a 12-month low of 43.83% and a high of 225.27%.

Implied volatility rank is a common metric used in options trading, comparing current implied volatility to historical levels. This comparison is done on the same stock, resulting in a percentage from 0-100%. A zero percent indicates the lowest volatility, while 100% shows the highest.

To find stocks with low implied volatility rank, use the Stock Screener with filters like Total Options Volume greater than 2,000, Market Cap greater than 40 billion, and IV Rank less than 15%. Top low IV percentile stocks include Electronic Arts (EA), Pdd Holdings (PDD), and Vale (VALE).

When IV rank is low, focus on long volatility trades like debit spreads and long straddles. Compare a stock’s IV rank to the general market – low market IV means less edge in buying volatility. Watch for upcoming earnings as stocks can move significantly post-earnings. Options are risky, consult a financial advisor.
