US supermarket chain Asda has slashed prices on 956 products, with an average decrease of 6%, some items seeing reductions over 30%. Key items like pasta, tea, and coffee are included. Yorkshire Tea 240-bag pack is now £5, and Asda gravy granules are 69p. Chicken Tikka Masala dropped from £2.40 to £1.57.
Asda’s price cuts aim to support lower-income households facing a £74 weekly deficit. These reductions supplement the store’s 3,452 Rollback deals. Asda’s chief customer officer, Rachel Eyre, emphasized the importance of easing the financial burden on families by lowering everyday product costs.
Chris Chalmers is appointed as Asda’s vice-president of customer data and loyalty. He will oversee the Asda Rewards loyalty program and digital marketing for Asda.com and George.com. Chalmers will also manage customer relationship management and enhance Asda’s customer data strategy. Eyre welcomes his return to Asda to strengthen customer relationships.
