Brazilian internet provider Desktop has confirmed preliminary talks with telecom operator Claro about a potential transaction. No agreement on price or terms has been reached yet. Claro, owned by America Movil, is reportedly conducting due diligence but has not submitted a binding offer. Desktop shares surged 16% on news of the potential acquisition. This is not the first time Desktop has been an acquisition target, with Telefonica Brasil also showing interest in the past. America Movil and Entel are considering a joint offer for Telefonica’s operations in Chile.
