Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Fold may feature a hybrid titanium and aluminum frame, according to analyst Jeff Pu. The foldable design resembles two iPhone Airs side by side, marking Apple’s entry into the foldable market. Previous reports suggested the hinge would use stainless steel and titanium, with leaks hinting at a 5.5-inch external and 7.8-inch internal display.

The iPhone 18 Fold is rumored to forgo Face ID in favor of Touch ID for biometric authentication. The device’s launch may align with iOS 27, which will offer software optimizations and features tailored for foldable devices. Pu’s note also highlighted strong demand for the iPhone 17, exceeding initial expectations. Apple currently uses titanium for the iPhone Air, while other models have shifted to aluminum for improved thermal efficiency.
