From Fortune:
Elon Musk visited Auschwitz-Birkenau and defended his social platform, X, from accusations of antisemitism. During the tour, the Tesla billionaire expressed his deep sadness at the tragedy of the 1.1 million people, mostly Jews, killed there during World War II. Musk later attended a discussion hosted by conservative media pundit Ben Shapiro, where he issued a mea culpa of sorts without mentioning the November incident that sparked backlash and halted advertising from major brands.
Musk’s battle against accusations of antisemitism has continued, despite a trip to Israel and meetings with top leaders, with no noticeable change in tone on his social platform, X, following his trip. At a conference in Krakow, Musk expressed he had been “frankly naive” about the spread of antisemitism and reiterated that he himself is “aspirationally Jewish.” In a conversation with Shapiro, the two discussed various hot-button issues, including their shared view that elite universities have been corrupted and a joint criticism of diversity, equity, and inclusion programs as discriminatory.
