Delta Air Lines exceeded profit estimates in the third quarter, reporting $16.7 billion in revenue, $1.7 billion in operating income, and an operating margin of 10.1%. Premium bookings rose by 9% and corporate bookings by 8%, leading to $5.8 billion in premium sales. The airline expects record earnings in the fourth quarter, with an adjusted profit of $1.60 to $1.90 a share. Despite a government shutdown, air traffic controllers and TSA officers are working without pay, although Delta’s CEO warns of potential impacts if the shutdown persists beyond another 10 days. Shares in Delta rose 4.3% on Thursday.
