New York City Mayor Eric Adams establishes a municipal digital assets and blockchain office to advance his crypto agenda before the end of his term. Moises Rendon will lead the newly created Office of Digital Assets and Blockchain Technology. Adams aims to promote innovation, economic growth, and financial inclusion in the city.

Adams gained recognition in the crypto industry for offering to receive his first three paychecks in Bitcoin while campaigning for mayor. He has since formed a digital advisory council, proposed BTC-backed bonds, and criticized New York’s BitLicense program. Adams announced he will not seek reelection, with his term concluding on Jan. 1, 2026.
