eBay to slash 1,000 jobs, scale back contracts

eBay Inc. has announced that it will be reducing its workforce by about 1,000 roles, which amounts to approximately 9% of its current employees, in an effort to better align expenses with the growth of its business. Last year, the e-commerce retailer revealed plans to lay off 500 employees, representing 4% of its total workforce. eBay CEO Jamie Iannone cited the need to balance headcount and expenses with the company’s overall strategy. This move comes as the company continues to make progress in its strategic initiatives.
