Canadian National Railway (CN) and Congebec are partnering to build a new temperature-controlled facility in CN’s Calgary Logistics Park, bridging the gap between rail and cold storage for more efficient transport of perishable goods. Matthews Tribal will be the construction partner for the project.

By integrating the facility within CN’s logistics hub, the partnership aims to streamline the flow of produce, proteins, and pharmaceuticals across Canada and the United States, enhancing the cold chain logistics network. The collaboration combines CN’s rail infrastructure with Congebec’s expertise in refrigerated logistics for improved efficiency.

The new facility in Calgary will support Western Canada’s agricultural and manufacturing industries by providing faster consolidation and distribution of temperature-sensitive goods to national and cross-border markets. The strategic location of Calgary as a hub for producers will offer shippers more reliable options in a competitive market.

Industry analysts see the partnership between CN and Congebec as part of a larger trend in infrastructure investment to modernize North America’s cold chain. Integrating rail-connected cold storage is increasingly crucial for reducing congestion, emissions, and risks related to climate and supply disruptions.
