Stocks opened higher on Wednesday as positive earnings reports outweighed concerns about U.S.-China trade tensions. The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 406 points, or 0.9%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite rose by 1.2% and 1.4%, respectively. Eight out of ten companies reporting exceeded bottom-line results, according to Bespoke Investment Group.
