Aerospace and defense company RTX saw flat performance on a day when the S&P 500 fell by 0.6%. Investors reacted positively to good news from Pratt & Whitney, its aircraft engine division, which received an important certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency for its GTF Advantage engine.
The certification from EASA follows similar approval from the FAA, positioning the engine for service next year. The GTF Advantage is designed to deliver more thrust and higher fuel efficiency than competing products, potentially making it a game-changer for operators, according to Pratt & Whitney’s president of commercial engines, Rick Deurloo.
Despite the positive news, Pratt & Whitney did not provide sales estimates for the GTF Advantage and how it will impact RTX’s fundamentals. Investors should note that RTX did not make the Motley Fool’s list of the 10 best stocks to buy now, which have historically produced significant returns compared to the S&P 500.
