Nissan is recalling over 173,000 U.S. vehicles due to a fuel pump issue that could cause stalling and increase crash risk. 4.7% of affected cars may have the defect, including models like the 2013-2021 NV200 Van. Dealers will inspect and fix the issue for free, starting December 3.

In addition to the fuel pump recall, Nissan issued a recall for 19,077 Leaf EVs due to lithium-ion battery problems that could lead to fire risks. This is not the first time Nissan has faced recalls for this issue, with 25,704 Leafs recalled last year. Other car companies are also issuing recalls this week.

Ford has had a successful year so far, with record-setting sales despite losing billions to tariffs. The company has sold over 1.1 million vehicles in the U.S. in the first half of the year, with a 8.2% year-over-year gain in the third quarter. Ford is also seeing increased electric vehicle sales, led by the Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning.

Despite its success, Ford has faced challenges with recalls, setting a full-year recall record in just the first six months of the year. As of September 24, Ford had 115 recalls on its ledger, surpassing General Motors’ 2014 record of 77 recalls.
