OpenAI CEO Sam Altman to meet Samsung, SK Hynix in Korea

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is visiting South Korean semiconductor leaders to explore manufacturing chips they need, as demand for AI programs and ChatGPT increases. He’s meeting executives of Samsung and SK Hynix to discuss potential collaboration and find ways to meet the growing need for computing power and processors.
South Korea, a leader in high-end chip production, plans to invest 622 trillion won ($466 billion) to build 13 new chip plants and three research facilities, aiming to dominate the industry by 2047. Samsung and SK Hynix are also increasing their investments in expanding chip production, with Samsung focusing on foundry expansion.
